My experience of the famous le pirate cruise

Day 1

Yeeey I looked so forward to this cruise!
We will be on the boat for 3 nights and sleep 1 night on the le pirate island! We departed from Labuan Bajo with our cute white and turquoise coloured boat. There are 4 cabins, all with a view over the sea. Every cabin has a large two person bed in it. It feels like glamorous camping on sea.

We first headed to Rinca Island to visit the famous Komodo dragons! When we arrived a ranger was waiting for us to show us around the island. We took the medium hike and saw plenty of Komodo dragons and went to a lovely view point! Great start of the trip!

After that we cruised further to Padar island to do another hike and watched the sunset. We needed to climb up big stairs that seemed never ending haha. But it was such an amazing view, even half way when we stopped to just take in all the surrounding! It’s really peaceful with the sun drapes its golden colours on the whole landscape! For me it was one of the best magical moments.

Day 2

We started the day with an early sail to pink beach! One of the famous Instagram spots of this trip. The sand of this beach is totally pink! It turns pink because of the red corals in the ocean.
We were the first ones that arrived and had the whole place for ourselves. We had a delicious breakfast and then took the small boat to go on the beach. Taking lots of photos, enjoyed the sun and water!
There was no better way to start the morning than this!

We sailed further to mantra point to swim with, as you can probably guess, the mantras! Like wow... those animals are huge!! So impressive to swim next to the them. Just be aware when you are snorkelling, they eat small jellyfish. That means that you will definitely be stung by a few. The small jellyfish can’t harm you, unless your allergic. It’s just not a very pleasant feeling Hahah I didn’t know about this so I had a little panic attack when they touched me. For me, the downside of this experience was the amount of trash in the water. It was sad to see the mantras swim through the plastic and some even tried to eat it.

We had lunch at an epic sand bank! Soft white sand that pops out in the middle of the ocean. A little private island! My eyes didn’t know where to look! The surroundings of this cruise is amazing.

Day 3

This day was completely relaxed and we sailed to many awesome snorkelling spots! One of my favourites that day was the turtle spot! We saw so many massive turtles swimming by. In that moment I just felt free and blessed. We also stopped by many little bounty islands and even more sand banks! I was on the sandbank when suddenly the captain screamed to me SHARK!! I thought he made a joke…but there exactly was one! what an experience and adventure! We sailed further to bats island. On the way we had companionship of quite a few dolphins! We clapped on the side of the boat and they all came say hi and swam with us along the way.

During sunset we were all ready with our camera’s to capture the bats flying from the island to the mainland. It felt there was no ending of bats flying back! They where with so many!! We could see the details of the wings and the combination with the sunset colours was pure magic and a once in a lifetime experience.

Day 4

Today we sail to the private pirate island. But first we made a stop at an other island to chill, do a hike or whatever you felt like doing that morning. We sailed on around 10 am and enjoyed the last two hours on the boat with the wind in our hairs and the sun on our faces. We had our goodbye lunch from the crew in front of the private island. After lunch we said our goodbyes and got dropped of with our luggage on the private island. WOW this place is something else! It felt surreal! Its the perfect honeymoon location. Like you're in a movie; a dream that came true! We spent the night in a little cabin on high poles with a view over the ocean. You have to enter it with a ladder. There are no windows, doors, keys or private bathroom, it's just a bamboo cabin with curtains. It truly feels like the best thing ever! There is a shared bathroom on the island. The styling of the island is very cute! Seashells, cactus, hang-mocks, kayaks, snorkel gear, bonfire, it has everything for a perfect stay. For dinner we had the opportunity to make our own meal. We learned to make spring rolls and sate! it was a really fun and nice evening!

Day 5

Its the last day the of the most epic cruise in Komodo! We had to pack our bags and had the whole day left to chill on the beach and enjoyed the good food before they dropped us back to the mainland. I had the best time during this trip and I met so many wonderful people! We were so lucky with our cruise group! This is a trip that will be on my mind and in my heart for the rest of my life.
